Elliott Gilbert
landscapes, cityscapes, portraits, people, still life
I have spent recent summers in France, painting watercolors in the
Provence villages and landscapes of Goult, Lumières, Montfort,
Najac, St-Affrique, Carcès, Bonnieux and elsewhere. As a practical
medium for travel, watercolor has been my choice; however my studio
work has included oils and pastels. Artists with whom I studied include
Isaac Soyer, Rufino Tamayo and Stephen Greene. I have also
illustrated children's books including "Mittens in May" by poet
laureate Maxine W. Kumin. Currently in print: "The Best Loved Doll"
by Rebecca Caudill, published by Henry Holt.
